Dulux Colour Of The Year

So the time of year has come around again, where the seasons are changing, trends are now shifting into Autumn and Winter, and everyone’s looking to update their home. We love to look at the different trends and discover what people are going to be introducing into their homes over the next year, as well as seeing how we can interpret the trends ourselves and incorporate them into our own kitchen designs!

As you may well know, colour is a massive part of our kitchen designs here at Naked Kitchens. Whilst we can create beautiful neutral kitchens, that are forever timeless and to be quite honest- our customers favourites- we love to experiment with colour. When we design a new kitchen- be it for a brainstorming session or a new concept we want to add to our showroom we will always try and use different colours to make it as interesting as possible!

At the beginning of the year, you’ll have seen we introduced our Hampton Court kitchen into our showroom, which was such a big experiment for us. Combining traditional shaker cabinetry with in frame slab cabinets to create such an interesting kitchen that has gained a lot of attention. We’ve included our own bespoke copper splashback that we aged by hand which complements the beautiful azure green cabinetry. However the one ingredient in the mix that really helps tie everything together is the Heartwood coloured cabinetry. Dulux colour of the year 2018, Heartwood is a beautiful dusky pink that has beautiful lilac and grey undertones, and looks simply stunning within any setting. We love the colour within this kitchen so much that we not only painted our walls, wall cabinets and larder unit in it, we also created a whole bespoke island in this colour! Combined with beautiful copper handles that are slowly tarnishing over time, this kitchen has a beautiful regal feel, that is perfect for its namesake.

Now the time has come for the Dulux colour of the year to once again be announced, and this year we’re sticking with the beautiful warm neutral tones. The 2019 Dulux colour of the year is Spiced Honey. An incredible caramel that is so warm and combines beautifully with blush pinks- like last years colour Heartwood, and also with the darker neutrals on the spectrum.

Whilst Spiced Honey may not seem like your first choice for your kitchen and potentially even a bit ‘boring’, we think you’ll be seeing it everywhere pretty soon. Combine with white units, exposed ply and some form of metal hardware, and you’ve got an instantly scandi inspired room which is chic and still beautifully warm and inviting.
