We’re Feeling Blue

We go through stages of loving different colours for the kitchen, and whilst some colours tend to come in and out of fashion very quickly, there are some colours that will stick around from season to season.
We wanted to show our appreciation to a colour that we know will always look good in a kitchen. Blue is a colour that will never go out of fashion for kitchens, and at the moment it’s definitely taking the colour crown!

Five Kitchen Trends in 2019

2018 has been a year of many different trends for interiors. We’ve seen colours dramatically change direction, different textures come into play and timber really taking the centre stage in kitchens, and a lot of these trends are likely to continue into 2019. We think there are a lot of new trends that will emerge in 2019 and we can’t wait to see them!

Year of the Honey- 2018 saw Dulux announce their colour of the year as Spiced Honey. Although slightly slow on the uptake this year, we do think that 2019 will be the year that we see this colour everywhere. Beautifully warm and comforting, this neutral colour is the perfect canvas for a kitchen. We also think that combining this colour with a brighter pop of colour, like Pantone’s Living Coral (colour of the year 2019) will create the most wonderful combination.

Why Green is Great In The Kitchen

Green is a colour that has been used in interiors for such a long time now. However, it’s only quite recently that we’re starting to see this translated into kitchen decor. From intense dark forest greens to the softest mint green colour, green is back in the kitchen, and in a big way.

Kitchen Trends and Colours

Every couple of months there is definitely a shift within home interior trends. Preferences start to change and you can see when people start to move on. Often, this is simply colour palettes changing with the seasons, or impractical trends slowly becoming less popular.

One of the first trends we’ve noticed emerging is the introduction of much warmer colour palettes into the kitchen. Whilst bright bold colours have been popular throughout the spring summer time, it is clear that as we are now transitioning into the autumn winter trends, people are looking for the richer warmer tones for their room. We’re loving seeing beautiful rusty colours, deeper blues, azure greens and even mustard yellows making their way into the kitchen. These colours look even more beautiful with oak and walnut timber creating an intensely beautiful room. We even love the tones of mustard so much that we’ve created our own showroom kitchen in this colour! Combining this colour with Inchyra blue and walnut timber has created a kitchen that is so inviting and looks almost retro with its colour palette choices. We’re loving seeing these natural colours in the kitchen and can’t wait to see more beautiful designs!

Colour Kitchens

Even with summer completely over and the cold winter months settling in, we’re still so obsessed with creating colourful kitchens. The beautiful rich intense colours of our Ladbroke instantly give us all of the autumnal feels, with dark forest greens and rich walnut timber creating a beautiful cosy feeling.

However, it’s not just darker colour palettes that we’re loving at the moment, as we’ve recently designed some absolutely incredible bright, colourful kitchens. Instinctively, we’d normally gravitate to the darker colours on the spectrum to make the room feel warm and cosy, however recently the colours we have been loving have been the opposite of this.

Houzz 2018 Kitchen Trends UK

As a professional in the kitchen industry, we are always aiming to widen our audience and one of the ways in which we do this is through the platform Houzz.

Being a part of Houzz also provides the opportunity to be involved in different webinars which have many different topics, including trends and ways to improve your Houzz profile. The most recent webinar that we attended outlined all of the trends that Houzz have predicted for Kitchens in 2018. We thought it would be interesting to let you know what these trends are, and our interpretation of them!

The first main trend highlighted was white kitchens. People are looking for fresh, open spaces and having everything white is a very easy way to do that. White is a colour that evokes an immediate sense of cleanliness, a quality that everyone wants in the hub of their home.
We think that white kitchens are an incredible option. With many people choosing open plan living for their kitchen, by keeping the room as light as possible will make the space feel even more open and large, which is a quality that many people are looking for. We particularly love the Kensington Kitchen we created with 2LG’s, which is finished in Wimbourne White by Farrow and Ball.
