2019 Interior Trends

5 interior trends you need to know about for 2019 With the New Year just around the corner, many of us are beginning to think about what to do with our interiors for 2019. When the Christmas decorations come down, our homes can look a little bare — so if you’re considering a revamp, January is the perfect time to incorporate some of the latest styles. From metallic details and geometric patterns, to natural stone finishes and this year’s must- have colour, we’ve got all the details on the looks that are set to be big in 2019. On-trend colours in 2019 Move over millennial pink — a new shade is set to be a firm favourite in the coming year. Spiced Honey was recently announced as the Dulux Colour of the Year for 2019, and we predict it will soon be adorning fashionable homes all over the country. A warm golden brown, this shade is a brilliant, versatile neutral, without ever being dull or boring. It works especially well with Moroccan-inspired features, like patterned tiling, Berber rugs, and burnished brass details, all of which are also set to be in style for yet another year. Geometric patterns and prints You’re probably already well aware of the trend for geometric patterns. But, this year, geometric designs and ikat patterns are due to get a modern update: expect to see more jagged, pixelated edges, and lots of asymmetrical designs. This look is always bold and attention-grabbing, so if you want to make a statement, go for an eye-catching rug or wallpaper, preferably in a monochromatic colour scheme. If you love this look but don’t want to go all out, then you can easily inject some geometric styles using framed posters and artwork — you’ll find a great range of geometric prints at Art.co.uk. Natural stones Natural stones with intriguing shapes and textures are going to be popular this coming year, especially in bathrooms and kitchens. Look out for marble, granite, and quartzite, and remember, the more uneven and natural the surface, the better. You want the finish to have a textured, tactile appearance. If you’re not sure you want to splash out on real natural stone flooring, then you can achieve the look on a budget with stone-effect tiles, such as these ones from Topps Tiles. For a traditional look in the kitchen, lay stone-effect flags of various sizes to create an eclectic, farmhouse feel. This lends itself especially well to kitchens with Shaker cabinetry. Metal accessories Metallic home accessories, like taps, handles, and rails, are going to feature heavily throughout 2019, especially brass and copper. These bright details add instant warmth and shine to any space, and they fit very well with the natural stone trend. It works especially well in the kitchen: try hanging copper pots and pans from the wall or ceiling, or adding interest to your worktop with some hammered copper utensil pots and canisters. Be careful not to go overboard: two or three accent pieces are all you need with this look. Looking to refresh your interiors in the new year? We predict that the trends we’ve listed here will be popular throughout 2019 and beyond. Guest Post in collaboration with Sofas by Saxon
